Belize Honeymoon - Fashion Inspiration

I'd mentioned that I spent the long weekend down in Orange County for a best friend's wedding, and it was incredible!  The wedding was absolutely gorgeous - from the venue to the flowers, to all the little details - it was like being in a real live Pinterest page - no joke.  My beautiful friend, Lindsay, was absolutely stunning - gorgeous, and glowing and happy.
Of course, everyone at the wedding has had to return to real life, while Lindsay and her new HUSBAND (so weird and awesome to say) are on their honeymoon in Belize. I've been daydreaming about a hot tropical vacation, and with Belize on the brain, I put together a wishlist for what I'd pack on a romantic trip down there...

I'm not known for packing light (I had a carry on AND a checked bag for 3 nights in southern California for goodness sake) but I'd do my best to limit myself to pieces that could easily transition from day to night... I'd definitely go after bright colors, and LIGHT fabrics, because it is hot and humid down there...

Here's my packing check-list...

Belize

Matthew Williamson floral dress / 120% Lino floral dress / Miss Selfridge chiffon dress / Accessorize sun dress / Jane Norman summer dress, $78 / Pull&Bear red dress, $62 / Paprika floral dress, $7.79 / Cutie summer top / One piece swimsuit / Halter top / Vix bikini / Wal G jumpsuits romper, $51 / Forever 21 romper / Charlotte Russe fringe bathing suit / Steve Madden shoes / Nine West flat sandals / MICHAEL Michael Kors tote bag / Irene Neuwirth gold jewelry / Luis Morais gold bracelet / IaM by Ileana Makri sterling silver charm / Michael Kors jewelry / Stella & Dot cuff bracelet / Blu Bijoux gold jewelry

White swimwear - you're a bride!!  And white makes you look oh so tan!  A sexy one-piece and a fringed bikini are must haves.

I'm also loving the versatility of the romper - light and easy to throw on for the beach, or for dinner with gold cuffs and cute gold sandals.  If you're feeling a bit more dressy, a pretty floaty maxi is just the thing, but it's Belize - one pair of wedges MIGHT make an appearance for a dressy night out.  With everyone else in flip-flops, it's hard to muster up the energy or desire to squeeze heels on.

A big bright tote is perfect for throwing everything into before hopping on a boat, or heading to the pool, and a selection of bright floral sundresses are essential for any beach vacation...

Cabo Packing List: Inspiration to Reality

Yesterday I posted the inspiration behind my Cabo packing list, and here is a little glimpse of how that inspiration is translating...

Lots of bright colors and fun jewelry... aye-aye-ayeeeee!!

One more day and I'll be beachside... HOWEVER, I've got a few fun posts lined up for the rest of the week!

I'll be back on Monday, relaxed, refreshed, and hopefully not burned like a lobster!

Adios!

Sand Between my Toes

I spent last week in Miami for a work conference, and it made for a great little break.  While we spent every day in an overly air conditioned conference room, I managed to sneak out for a little beach time...

I mean LOOK at that water... how could I not?!

It was so clear, and sooooo blue.  That perfect tropical color that seriously does not exist on the west coast!

On a few days, I snuck out to the beach over our lunch break, and parked myself in a chair for a little sun, and the feeling of vacation... even if it was for just an hour.  The warm sun, and a cold beverage was just what I needed...

And... THIS was the view from my room at the W in South Beach...
 I'll just say... it didn't suck :-)

It's a breezy 60 degrees in San Francisco, and just posting these pictures makes me crave the balmy weather, and room service.  I wish there were a freshly stocked mini-bar in our apartment... and a maid to give me fresh towels daily.

Side note: what is it about hotels that makes me go through about 5 towels a day??  Ugh, if only we had a fairy that came to our house and swapped them out for us every day...

I was so good - one morning I even got up early for a run, and to watch the sunrise...

And then I was bad, and had a few cocktails by the pool... it would have been wrong of me not to take full advantage of Miami!!

... and everyone needs a good tan in South Beach...

All in all, a fabulous week away - even if it was for work!!

Last Minute Splurge

In less than 24 hours, we will be on a plane, bound for Cabo, and of course I couldn't help one last beach bunny splurge.

After work last night, I headed to Union Street in the Marina, to meet my soulmate... my bikini soulmate that is.  She is the color of orange sherbet, and has an amazing fringed top.  I am 99% sure I "pinned" this bikini on Pinterest at the start of summer, and now it's mine... all mine!!

I am OFFICIALLY ready for vacation now!!

Happy Monday!

I've been a bit MIA recently, but am so glad to be back!

Last week was rainy and dreary, and with all the storms, Kris and I were feeling cooped up by Sunday.  Luckily, the sun was out, so we headed out to the coast.

The ocean was really churned up from the storms, and the waves were HUGE!  We hiked out to Mavericks Surf in Half Moon Bay, to watch the surfers brave the monster waves.  The waves were close to 60 feet, and they had guys on jet skis towing the surfers into the waves.  So crazy!  Kris hiked to the top of the hill to watch, but I was feeling lazy so I settled myself on some huge flat rocks and soaked up the sun.

We headed over to the Half Moon Bay brewery afterwards, and with the fire pits and heat lamps going, it was just warm enough to sit outside.  All the beers are brewed all the distillery behind the restaurant - I'm not a huge beer drinker, but with the sun shining, and my toes toasty warm by the fire, I was more than happy to enjoy few beers, a crab sandwich, and a huge plate of nachos.

Here are a few pics from yesterday - such a fun day, and such a perfect end to the weekend!
